I have occasionally seen this sort of thing - a cheap random object for a a ridiculous price ... but for what purpose ?
obviously no-one will buy it, and they're paying fees on listing it - so why do it?
its surely not for 'comedy' because its not remotely humourous ...

I am assuming their is some benefit in number to them to have lots of listings active - but I can't think what.

if anything it would put me off dealing with them.

any ideas?

It probably is a mistake. I bought door stops at £1.90 and checking the buyer some time later I saw they were now £19.00. I e mailed the seller and they replied expressing gratitude as they couldn't understand why the items had stopped selling.
boxy to me ebay messed it all up when they stopped sellers from leaving a negative feedback

there is one that i watch that has six positive feedback and they are all never payed no contact etc which is wrong. people should be able see that it is some clown and ebay should kick him off

thanks all - mmm... yes it probably is a typo - though its not the first time i have seen this happen, so i wondered if the was some reason within ebay for adding 'unbuyable' listings - as someone noted some kind of 'marker' or it gains them superbuyer status or something.

oh douglas ... calm down!
not sure where in my OP you get the idea that I am outraged by this ... are you prone to being dramatic? obviously you are so clearly it is you that needs ... to ... calm ... down . Ironic eh?
Bednobs still can't find out if the ebay new fees are actually being charged.
There was a post on ebay discussion boards that they had tried this before and had to give up as it was illegal to charge for using a government sponsored official service.
It's a cheap way of advertising all their other products.
