Could be rust on the discs, has the car been standing for some time?

Car used every day had discs and pads about 3 months ago
with the engine not running, press firmly on the brake pedal. It should hold firm unless you press it several times. If this is not the case the vacuum pump might have a leak.
does the hissing noise come from the front, back or a side? Can you lift the bonnet and listen while someone presses the brake pedal with the engine running?

Can only hear it in the car each time you press the pedal
do you get the hissing noise if you press the pedal while stationary ? and does it keep hissing if you keep the pedal pressed ?

When stood still and moving its just a hiss with every press no noise if you hold it down
Doesn't sound critical, just get it checked next time your passing a garage for peace of mind, most garages will have a listen for free :-)
It sounds like the seal on the servo unit.
