Why wouldn't they?
Good point, trt.
I can't imagine anyone having that many children. I also think it would be a good idea to only give Family Allowance for the first two children.
When I had my children, you didn't get any Family Allowance for the first one. Two many hand outs these days. (unless of cause this family work to support their children)
maggie....they own a bakery........which may explain why she has always got a "bun in the oven."

Nice family though.
They do work and, very hard by all accounts. I think trt means if there was no NHS, any medical help would have to be paid for like in the US.
I'd rather they had 17 kids than 17 teenage, unmarried, give me a council house and benefits, girls having 1 child each.
Weren't families generally bigger in the 'olden days', I.e. pre nhs?

Can't see what difference it would make to them.

I really like this family, and the other one feature on the same tv show (the mum who home schools all the kids).
I'm astonished anyone would question their ethics as a loving family, who are heartbroken at losing a child, which i'm sure would have been much loved..

My GG had 11 children, sadly 4 died in infancy, but both my G/Gran and G/Dad worked their socks off and we now have a large loving extended family :) He was a baker as well, ironically...

Nowt as queer as folk right enough...

They do look like a nice family and obviously work hard for a living.

Must cost them a fortune to go out though.
Wow - however, the parents work, the family doesn't look deprived. Who are we to say. Child benefit must be massive, I think that's the bit I object to.
I'm not sure that the CB would weigh heavy in having 16 children as well as working F/T lol !!
Lovely family, quite a rarity nowadays :)
In the grand scheme of things, the child benefit they receive is totally insignificant. There's plenty of other people much less deserving somehow able claim benefits they shouldn't.
True, yes, I agree.
