Taking Part-Time Work
6 Answers
my daughters bf has been looking for a job for a while but no joy, he's now taken a 20 hr PW job locally and starts today, he will be monthly paid and will miss September pay and not get paid until 28th Oct. he went to the dole yesterday to ask how he is to live on no money for 6 weeks and they had no idea. he is owed 1 weeks dole. I thought there was a back to work tide over scheme, does that not exist then?

thanks for those links mamya, he won't qualify because he only started to sign on a few months ago, he was his dad's main carer and lived at home, when his dad died last year he lived in the family home ,mortgage paid up, on his small lump sum inheritance, he could have claimed JSA straight away but didn't. he used the inheritance to run the house, paid all the bills instead of claiming. I admire him for doing that but he'll struggle for a while now.
Hi, dependant on who your daughters bf is working for it may be possible for him to receive a salary advance in early October for the couple of weeks he has worked and then the advance will be taken out of his October pay. I am sure if he explains the situation they will be able to accomodate some pay to assist. I wish him luck :)
