Last night went to this locking up of the tower of London ceremony. This is 700 years old tradition to which the public are invited. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys history of London. You can apply by writing in and dates are about 2 months in advance. When you are there it is quite moving and makes you kind of proud to be British. It takes place at 10pm every night.

Thanks grasscarp, I might just enquire about a trip for a couple of days, (guess I'm old enough to start my bucket list).

My son went to this last year with the scouts, he quite enjoyed it.

Rocky, I noticed quite a few youngsters there. All were respectful and well behaved.
I have to confess I've only ever been to London once, to see my nephew receive his Royal Academy Arts Degree, at the Royal Albert Hall, a quick trip to Harrods and then home. I love history and I would like to see those places, but MrAsk isn't up to walking long distances now (or trailing around as he calls it).

Askyourgran. If you can make it to Tower Hill station it is a short walk. The ceremony involves hardly any walking at all.
