I have this message for an item I sold on ebay on Sunday that was paid for within minutes of the end of bidding into my Pay Pal account.

"I item I sold is eligible for a Second Chance Offer".

I posted the item the next day, having received the money in my Pay Pal account.

My PP account says something like "awaiting repayment".....why am I getting these messages ? The item was only 99p, plus £2 postage, that actually cost me £2.60.

The Second Chance thing means that you had a second bidder who was pipped to the post by the winner, meaning that if the winner doesn't pay then you can offer it again to the second person without having to relist it.

I don't know what the "repayment" message means.

Your experience is one reason why I always weigh stuff carefully before I put up a p&p price - I'd rather refund an overpayment than find it's cost me more to post it.
I don't what you were selling but why did you bother when the person only 99p for it ? Was it really worth all the faffing about, just for 99p ?

Mikey444, if you use eBay you will see many items start at 99p, some even lower.
Its the luck of the draw with most sales when people are bidding on something they, me included, want to pay the least possible.

I am quite new to it myself, so its a bit trial and error at the mo.

Thankyou for your reply Boxtops. I understand now what it means.
I often sell for a starting price of 99p - not only do you not have to pay a listing fee for a 99p start, but I'd rather have 99p than nothing.

Thank you Boxtops my sentiments entirely.

For years I have given very good items to the charity shops but decided charity begins at home sometimes.
I meant no offence cupotee and I hope I haven't caused any. Its just that all that packing and walking down to the Post Office for such a small sum hardly seems worth it. I hope you are more successful on ebay in the future.

Thank you Mikey4444, as I said I am new to using and have much to learn. On this occasion it was a brand new t shirt given to my husband as a joke that he would never wear. I think it wasn't much more than a couple of pound when purchased. No offence taken.
