I've 'caddied' old drives from pc's before but not from a laptop, quite easy and reasonably cheap. External Drives are also relatively cheap now, so I don't do them anymore.

A lot of laptop drives are slower than pc drives so that is a drawback. Suggest you go somewhere like Maplins and ask their advice and they will have all the bits you need.

Its probably possible rocky but external HD's are so cheap these days. I bought a Toshiba 1 terabyte HD for about £50 earlier this year in PC World. Its very reliable and takes up less room than my iphone.

Thanks all, I was trying to avoid spending another £50 TBH. I'll give Fenders idea a whirl, especially as it'll only cost £1 ;-)

Bugger that, I put what I wanted in the option box, it said 99p, it then insisted I pick the only colour there is (red) and then price jumps up to £93!

If your determined to do it, go to Maplins or similar shop. You can get the caddies for about £3 upwards.

Thanks Slack, just ordered one from Amazon £3 plus £3 p&p, works out cheaper than driving and parking at a Maplins/PC World.

Hope I got it right, I googled the laptop for hard drive interface, it said 2.5 SATA, fingers crossed :)
