Had a lovely day today, took the kids to Portsmouth Historical Dockyard, we had an annual ticket that runs out in Oct so thought we'd use it one last time and see the new Mary Rose museum while we were at it. Glad we did as they didn't charge us extra (was resigned to paying £44) for it as it wasn't there when we first went. It's unbelievable, seeing half the shell of a ship that was underwater for over 400 years.
Nice Turkish meal to top the day off.
I'm shattered and need my bed, everyone else have a good day?
2017 they reckon she'll be dry, we had to look through small glass screens, the lighting kept changing and there were big tubes everywhere keeping the atmosphere regulated.
I went round the temporary exhibition of ancient ships found in Pisa a few years back. The Italians are going to open a permanent exhibition of them soon but nothing yet.
Nice to hear you have had a good day out, I love season tickets. We haven't been anywhere for ages but have a birthday disco to sort out for next weekend.
They were digging to increase size of station at San Rossore and came across an ancient ship then more and more. They also found artefacts and even a couple of skeletons. Seems Pisa was once a harbour. The amount of things found is huge. Even pots with stuff still in them. Seems the conditions to preserve everything were just right. Once this is open to the public it will be a much bigger attraction than the leaning tower.
