I have been a fan of the hit medical drama E.R since it began showing in the UK. Watching the recent series on Channel 4, I've noticed that one of the usual characters, Dr Susan Lewis, seems to have suddenly disappeared from our screens. The other characters have made a reference about her moving to another post elsewhere. But unless I've missed an episode, I'm sure there was no storyline leading up to this departure? Has the actress who plays the part had to leave the show suddenly? Anyone know anything?

At the end of last season Susan was really annoyed that Carter got tenure instead of her. Then at the start of this season Weaver casually mentions that she took up a post in Iowa. So I'm assuming she quit for this reason. Its been bothering me as well so I checked out the website and forum and most people are wondering the same thing. I think the makers could've explained it better.
