I was told it would be so many days before I received the modem etc., it took twice as long. When it arrived, the ASDL line was supposed to be up and running. It wasnt. Another 8 days. It took over 3 weeks to do what should have been done in 10 days. I wont go into the trouble over the payments and being off line completely for a week (due to freeserve). Stay focused, calm and bear in mind that in say 2wks. time it will be history and then enjoy the speed of Broadband. Good luck.
I have to agree with sddsddean, any broadband is better than none. We were cabled so long ago our system is too old both to handle broadband or interactive TV. (It's NTL by the way, to give them credit.) I doubt they can afford to recable most of North London to fix it either. They knew this when I got cable 7 years ago but it took me another 6 to find out the truth, they kept saying 'later in the year' but clearly couldn't keep up the pretence for ever.
