Come In Bed 5
16 Answers
Was in local hospital as a day case for a simple procedure. Nurse said it wasn't worth writing up the label on the wall behind my bed, so for my short visit I was known as bed 5. It didn't bother me in the slightest but it is rather impersonal being referred to by number.

When I went in as a day case to have my gallbladder out I was directed to one bed then, I think also because we were all numbered up according to their records, moved me to...Bed 13...
I remember asking one of the nurses after my op if the notes said how many gallstones there had been (random curiosity!). She came back and said they said no gallstones which kinda floored me, thinking what the hell had I been going through before having the op etc... and them being seen on a scan. She re-checked the notes and came back to say it actually meant I have no gallstones...NOW!
I did have a good few moments of panic inbetween!

Nurses arent taught to save time money and effort in these ways
and identity of the patient is important
not an optional time consuming extra.
I hope your wristband didnt say Bed 5.....
dont complain just write a letter saying this is a simple way to improve quality and safety - and cheap too....
