Free spyware remover - can anyone recommend a good one?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I will be using lavasoft spyware soon, i am changing from Norton anti virus and firewall to AVG+FIREWALL., which by the way, if anyone is interested, and didn't know, is the only software with two years of free updates, all others only have one
However i downloaded the Yahoo Companion Toolbar, and this has a pop up blocker and spyware on it, and both have been brilliant, chances are i might not need lavasoft, but AVG reccomended it to me, so it must be a good one..
I agree with commoner, it is better to pay for something good you can trust, in the end you get what you pay for, and sad though this may seem, anything free is not as good as something you've paid for.
All free - never had a problem.
Maybe this also has to do with the fact that I don't use Internet Explorer, don't visit dodgy sites that may give me spyware problems and have a healthy distrust of any "useful toolbars" that programs or websites try to install for my benefit.
Absolutely no offence meant to you ....but you do seem to be trying to only HALFclose the stable door after the horse has bolted............or in your case after the horse has entered....good luck with clearing your pc of this muck...........commoner
