Are there any swimming teachers out there that can help please?

My daughter is 7 and has been in the starter class for two years. When she first started she wouldn't let go of the side and now she can swim under and on top of the water on her front, but we just can't get her to swim on her back.

We take her swimming as well as her lessons and try to get her to float but we can't get her to bring her tummy up.

Is there anyone that can give us some tips.

Pleeeeeese.

Is it really essential for her to swin on her back? I can't swim on my back either and I'm nearly 30, I guess it's just one of those things that you can either do or you can't!
I can't spell swim correctly either!!!! ;~)

yeh, She can't go into the next class until she can.

Oh well, Sunday tomorrow, We'll give it another go. Again!!!!!

My son was a hesitant swimmer, we booked a course of half a dozen private lessons as he didnt seem to benefit from group sessions. It was pricy but worth it - he came on in leaps and bounds

We asked at the leisure center on Friday about private lessons as we thought it would be cost effective in the long run. They said that they were not available in out borough. I think we'll have to look further afield. We did manage to get her to swim underwater on her back today, she just can't seem to float or swim on the top!!!!
Glad that she was able to swim underwater, I guess it will come to her eventually, I gave up trying after a while but if she keeps at it then she will get better, you'll just have to take her at every opportunity and fingers crossed she'll be in the next class soon!!

Good luck!
hi , my daughter used to hold a float - or 2 ! - across her tummy ( sort of hugging them like you hug a teddy or hot water bottle ) this helped her float when on her back obviously she won't be able to move her arms just kick her legs but it will boost her confidence and get her used with being on her back

We can't get het hold a float on her chest. I think it must panic her. I'm going to leave her swimming under the water and hope gradually she floats to the top. It must all be in her head. If you can swim underwater why would you be scared that you're gonna sink?????
