I need to get an easy to use mobile. Does opening a clamshell phone switch it on? Then it's just a matter of keying in the number and pressing the green, call, button?

I used to have 1 about 10 years ago and yes that's how they worked. It still has a power on/off button as well.

what is a clamshell phone ?
thanks baldric, a flip phone :)
Most of the clamshell/flip phones can be set up to 'answer' on opening and 'end' call on closing, although it's not always set as default.
Without an external display to let you know who is calling, I don't think I'd want and auto answer on opening ! Auto end call, ok. Maybe, just maybe, if the numpties can be assigned one ring tone and the wanted callers another, then it may be ok.
Depends on which one you have, if you can find them now. Ihad. A job. When looking but I love them as no accidental dialling 999 or having to lock the keypad. Would always buy clamshell type if I could.

I've bought one for £20 on Amazon. It's not for me but for someone who's forgotten how to use the phone they have.
With this new one it should just be a matter of opening it, keying in the number and then pressing the green 'call button.
Yes that's how you do it and as with mine the number is held for when you press the green button again so you highlight it and press the green button again to automatically dial it, very simple and a good way to use it.
