Advice on broadband service.

BT have told me to sling my hook, as I download over 40Gb of stuff a month, so I need to find another broadband provider. Can anyone recommend a good provider? I'm not bothered about download speed, as apparently my phone line can only manage 1Mb anyway. Priorities are reliability, free or local rate support line, and unlimited download capacity.

I think you might struggle getting a domestic line (at least a cheapish one sub �50) which is willing to allow 40Gb a month, almost all of the ones I know of which say unlimited have a fair use policy which limits you to a 1Gb a day limit.

If nothing else I'd read the small print on the contract with regard to download limits before signing up to anything.

I use telewest blueyonder with no usage limit.

I have just scrutinised their terms and conditions and can find nothing to counteract their 'no usage limit' statement.

Sadly, it is not available countrywide.

Thanks for these replies. Unfortunately neither of these operate in my area. I'm currently leaning towards Pipex, who seem to have good reliability/customer service, and am thinking about AOL who, for some reason I can't explain, I just feel very negatively about.

Does anyone have experience of AOL or Pipex?

Had AOL 2mb Broadband for just about a year and had no problems despite what i'd heard.

A had AOL for about 3 years. I left only because I wanted broadband and don't have a BT line.

I found them to be very good. The only problem I had was convincing them that I wanted to cancel. They kept giving me free months.

i'd avoid aol--i install and maintain computers and lost count of the times i have had to sort out problems i traced to the aol package--i'd go for pipex--no restricyions on usage and good service

I have 10MB NTL cable Broadband, and they have increased their monthly download allowance to 75GB.Its a bit pricey at �37.99, but it have never let me down.
