I'm changing career and would like to go into admin work, possibly in a council and would like to know what courses/qualifications I should take to get into this field.
Any suggestions of courses and recommendations of who to study with would be appreciated, thanks so much Louise

Hi - employers are usually looking for Word Processing OCR levels 1, 2 and/or 3, the ECDL qualification (European Computer Driving Licence - which has nothing whatsoever to do with driving Automobiles!!) is a good all rounder - this can take a while to complete, but you could do it alongside your job...... also, an NVQ in administration or Business Admin can be done alongside your job too. Good luck x
I agree that the ECDL is a good one to do as it covers most aspects. I work for a council and I know that they look for people who are computer literate and willing to learn. Most have their own management systems and would expect new staff to train on these. Good luck in your search!
