Where Can I Buy Screw Tops For Jam Jars.

I am busy making jams & jellies from all the soft fruit that I have got in the garden. I have collected hundreds of jam jars - of varying sizes - throughout the year, and have been able to buy new screw tops for standard size jars (from Lakeland & other outlets).

Does anyone know where I can buy screw tops for all the larger and smaller jars that I have got? I have already filled very nearly all my standard sized jars.

Yes ... I know about the waxed discs & cellophane covers, which I can get hold of easily. But I'm making jam in near-industrial quantities, mainly for charities, harvest festivals etc, and I'd like to be certain that the jars can be stacked, packed, turned upside down etc (by other people) safely.

If no-one else has any better ideas I may have to use them.

Are you aware of the relative new laws re using second hand jam jars if you are selling jam, I think you have to buy new ones. Haven't read any legal bumf so cannot be sure but heard it on TV news. Worth checking out.

No I'm not aware, but I can't believe that my second-hand jars, which have been scrubbed by hand, been twice through the dish-washer, put in boiling water and sterilised are not hygienic enough to pass any tests. I would however like to buy new screw tops.

I am not planning on selling the jam,(though that may be a technicality). What I don't keep for myself will be going to local churches and charities.

For diddlydo. I have kept some of them, but I find old lids often have blemishes, dents, discolouration etc, & I like my 'stuff' to look nice as well as taste nice.

Having already bought loads of standard size lids from Lakeland (£2.99 for 12) I don't think I need the sort of quantities in your link Methyl, but it will be very useful for next year.

Now to get the measuring tape out and put in an order from your link Maydup.
