Dogs In Buggies
16 Answers
Yesterday while in a shop, I saw two small dogs-they appeared to be cavaliers or similiar-sitting up in large pushchairs with the rain guard down.
I commented on it to the shop owner...she said that 'pre-pushchairs' the dogs were carted around in a shopping trolley...they are never walked as they should be.
I find this both sad and horrifying.

Thought you were going to describe what I saw in Juan-les-Pins. A young couple walked by, she pushing a pushchair. They had a toddler with them The toddler was walking with the father. In the pushchair was the family dog, a small spaniel!

We used to see a woman with a chihuahua walking around with it in a baby's pushchair, which I thought was a bit odd, then she got a chihuahua puppy and upgraded to a double pushchair! I could just understand this if she was in town with them, and didn't want to risk them being trodden on, but this was in quiet residential roads, where they could be walked normally.
They were always done up to the nines, little coats etc, I would have liked to strip them of everything, and just let them run around naturally, like dogs, rather than a child substitute.

I'd rather see that than the ghastly story in our local rag this week, about a vile couple who kept a terrier locked up in a filthy cage - all the time - for FIVE YEARS. Did they go to jail? No
Did they get fined? No
Did they have to pay costs? yes
what did they get? - a suspended sentence and banned from owning pets
Awful

Quite common for toy dogs especially at shows instead of cages - but wouldn't like to try to put my Heelers in one let alone my GSD! These dogs are not likely to be dumped or abused, and I would rather see them being spoilt.

My mum had a Ruby coloured Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Bubbles) who never got walked, the poor dog was used to breed from and then she had her put to sleep when she developed a heart problem, she was only about 6 years old. I tried walking the dog myself but as she had never been on a lead and was already 3 years old when I first knew of her I could never get her to wear a collar or harness without causing her extreme distress.
The next time my mum got a dog my sister and I took it from her and made sure it went to a good home.
