Following on from the last update - http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Question1275542.html We visited the consultant today and aunt was told that there is a 6mm nodule on the left lung (which hasn't changed in size from previous X ray) and is being referred to Respiratory Consultant. She's a bit shocked (despite having self-diagnosed all sorts of ailments) and the medical consultant was very cagey, unwilling I assume, to give too much information yet. Aunt is a non smoker, has no shortness of breath, no recent weightloss or lack of energy so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the feedback.

A biopsy is the next step i would have thought.

I still think that it has nothing to do with cancer.

Look forward to your next report ;-)

Thank you again Sqad, you are so kind to respond so quickly I really appreciate you allowing me to pick your brains and for reaffirming what I'm thinking myself. I cannot emphasize how 'young' this 80 year old lady is - she gave the consultant a tongue lashing for keeping her waiting 45 minutes over her appointment time as it was going to leave her late for her Ladies Bridge Evening tonight - she needed time before it to prepare for a bus tour tomorrow! At least that will keep her mind occupied. Thank you most sincerely again Sqad, I will keep you informed x
Could it be Sarcoidosis? I had this over 20 years ago and it causes a shadow patch on the lungs but I was never out of breath or a smoker.
Ann....;-)....that is a good shout.
