Mainly for Dr Filth, but relevant to everyone :

0800 numbers cost a lot of money to ring from mobiles - but you can avoid these charges.

I always use the number provided by

http://www.0800buster.co.uk/

The current number is 0333 555 8800 - enter the 0800 number you require when you hear the prompt, followed by the # key.

This really does work and it really is free.

Cheers

NB - it's 'free' as long as you have inclusive minutes on a mobile contract.

If you are on PAYG then it costs the same as any other 01/02/03 call (which will still usually be less than the 0800 cost)
there are also apps for the 0870/0844 numbers etc, they find the landline number of the company and call that instead, they can be a bit hit and miss though but the most of the main culprits like banks/insurance can be found and avoided.

mine is called 08 free call and i'm with santander and avivia and can call them using free minutes
