Perms!
6 Answers
Is it possible to get a perm that looks you have tongued your hair into loose ringlets? If so, what's it called? Don't want big curls because they drop out and I don't want dodgy tight ones! More of an afro type perm! Thanks

It's important that you have a good hairdresser (that doesn't necessarily mean an expensive one) - someone that understands what you are describing and can perm your hair just as you want it to be.
Unfortunately I've tried that in the past and it's still ended up disastrous. Last time I asked for a trim and ended up with two inches being sawn off! I don't have much look with hairdressers...cheap...expensive... or inbetween! I want it to look like a shorter version of Chrissie Watt's curl in Eastenders!
I know the feeling. I've moved to Scandinavia and no-one seems to be able to layer hair here. I decided to have a soft perm here in the summer of 2002 when I was expecting my baby. I asked for a soft perm. I hate to think what would have happened if I'd asked for a tight perm! To make matters worse, my waters broke when I was in the hairdresser. My husband took me straight to the hospital. I looked like Groucho Marx when I gave birth! Glad I didn't have to look at myself! Iam a bit wiser now. When I see people now with hairstyles that I like (even strangers) I ask them who their hairdresser is. I think I know the goodhairdressers in this town now. Phew! Thank goodness!
