Change From Dla To New Benefit...
8 Answers
A young man who suffered serious head injuries in an accident is to be 'assessed' to see if he's eligible for the new benefit that is set to replace DLA. He won't understand what's going on and this is going to be very upsetting for him.
I plan to contact his social worker tomorrow but I'm asking here if anyone knows if he could swap benefits without the assessment?

He (understandably) was very worried about what was going to happen. It was sorted out quickly and reasonably stress-free, Sandy. I hope the same applies to your friend.

Oh I feel for you both, Sandy. I had a similar situation with my mother recently..dementia not brain injury.
Why, oh why do these people think it is for the best to have to involve the person even if it distresses them.
My mother was totally confused by a strange face leaning over her bed asking how she was, is she happy and how would she feel about moving to another home.
I hope the social worker can be sympathetic to you, Sandy...x
