Odd Phone Experience

Yesterday we had a series of odd things. The phone rang once, the display screen showed 1471 no-one there. This happened every 20 minutes or so, in the end we unplugged all the phones and today have had no problems. Any ideas what was going on? We have a BT line and Sky calls, we also don't have caller display.

Maybe they ( BT ) were doing some sort of line tests.

That's nothing, whenever I've been out, I press the 1471 when I get back to see if anyone's called and three times, on three separate days, my own number came up !! So apparently I've been ringing myself - wierd !! Never done it before or since.
