Cat Bite

Hiya.. Mr Crisper was bitten by a cat earlier ... not one of our cats.. he has 3 small punture wounds on his arm.. they don't seem to be sore... they have bled, and are a teeny bit raised... he's washed the area well with an antibacterial soap.. does he need to do anything else ? Thanks everso for any replies Mrs C x

Is he up to date with his anti-Tetanus?

Monitor the situation for the next 48 hours and if it becomes swollen or painful suggesting infection, then seek medical help as antibiotics may be needed.

Don't worry.
Agree with sqad, but do check his tetanus jab status - cats' teeth are notoriously filthy, which is why (when they bite each other) it so often produces a nasty wound.

Thankyou very much for your reply sqad Sqad.. yep anti tetanus is up to date... I don't think I'll worry... well maybe if he starts purring !! lol Mrs C x

get a few tins of Whiskers in (other brands are available) just in case lol lol
I read recently that a high percentage of cat bites get infected (unlike dog bites), so agree with sqad. Just keep watch for signs of infection.
