Seat Belts In Police Vans....

When watching Cop programmes on TV and they arrest and put drunks, thieves etc in the back, I have never seen the police strap them in.

Not that I care if they injure themselves or not as its usually their fault but, what if they do if the transport is in a crash or other, would they be able to sue the police considering the way so many people in this Country seem to be claiming for anything these days?

Isn't it the same as taxi drivers, they're exempt on short journeys because they have to be able to get out quickly?
