Why Are There No Proper Checks
on people from abroad.
Surely there's a big problem in checking out people who come into the UK, in paying all this money out and somebody should be held responsible!

People are behaving as if there's some sort of check box are you a criminal yes/no on border entries
Criminal gangs have all sorts of ways of getting across borders
The important thing is catching them and that means co-operation with international police forces like Interpol
And it certainly doesn't mean opting out of the European arrest warrant like this brain dead government is proposing
If we do that then we'll be back to having criminals thumbing their noses at us from the mainland while we spend months or years in extradition hearings

some obviously are, we have lax rules or staff with regards to entry to UK, time to bolt the door, if there were better checks from both countries, a national database, then why can't that be typed in as they come through border control, run their passports over a scanner, there should be a flag up if they try and get through the gates in UK if they have a criminal record.
Does that work both ways then Emmie? Would people from the UK with a criminal record be stopped from travelling to other European countries, or at least flagged when they try to enter?
And also I don't think the suggestion was that the link was to be discounted as it was from a tabloid, but because it was from a site/publication called muslim rape watch, which doesn't exactly imply it's a credible or balanced source of information does it?

Probably, because due to the rise in the number of countries within the EU & Schengen agreements, and coupled with the rise in low-cost airlines based in Europe, coupled with cross border co-operation between criminal gangs, then the "Gangster" tours of the cntinent will continue. As Europol have repeatedly stated, the criminals can & DO catch 4-5 flights/day starting in wherever their "home" is, then spend the day flying to a chosen target, rob whatever, then home to dinner with family.
