Hi, Id like to know if there is an 'easy to read' Bible available to buy? Id like to read it out of interest, but Im assuming its written in 'old english' and I'd like one that a young adult/teenager would be able to fully understand etc.

If you go to a good reputable bookshop like Waterstones for example they'll have a large selectionof what you're after.
Hi moon_unit, if you google 'modern English Bible' you will find versions you can read on screen and download if you choose, free of charge.
Hi moon_unit. The most widely read version is the NIV - New International Version. Incredibly easy to read, written in modern day language, but is true to the original version in its writings. The bible used in the majority of churches.
What do you want to read it for? If it's just the stories, go for a children's version such as Lion (I think). If it's for more adult reasons,be warned. Much of the Old Testament is quite dull - family histories and so on. The New Testament is more interesting, but quite biased. Very generalised answer, but see what you can find on-line.
Here's a link to the Bible Gateway. You can read the same section in around twenty different versions. Have a look round until you find a style you are comfortable with.
I still have my King James bible that I was given on my 8th birthday. I don't find it at all difficult to read (and didn't as a child) and indeed think it represents English at its finest - particularly remarkable when you consider it was written by a committee.

I find most modern bibles flat by comparison.

Thanks everyone, thats very helpful.

EssJay1, I think I mostly want to read it for the stories, as I was reading a world mythology book and when I came to the section on the Bible and Christians, there were snippets of stories that I found very interesting (as a non christian). I'll have a look, thanks :)

Hi moon_unit . I would recommend that you buy a Good news Bible. These are readily available to buy in a range of sizes and cover designs and price ranges. These Bibles are used by many schools RE departments. (Well they were in the Eighties when I went) They are written as clearly as any good Bible should be. I would not recommend a Childrens Bible as they are not Proper Bibles. Merely a collection of the most popular stories.
The Good News Bible was written specifically for anyone to understand, in particular young people. Or you could try searching for 'Youth Bible', there are quite a few around which (so I'm told) are quite good.
