Getting A Gas Supply To A Property

I am looking at buying a house that currently has no Gas supply to it, I know that there is Gas on the estate and that the neighbouring properties have been connected. Has anyone any idea of the cost implications of arranging a connection.

i have no idea but considering the price of gas you would think that they would connect you for free!

I guess the cost will depend on how far away the current gas supply is, how much they have to dig up, and how far they have to dig, and what they have to dig through (tarmac, earth etc.)

Lots of variables so I guess they will send out someone who will do an estimate for you.

But I bet it wont be cheap, in the many thousands

For your area, there'll be a utilities company that handles all this. It's not the ones that bill you, but they'll be able to tell you.

If the supply is out in your road, they'll quote for the work to connect you. Where possible, they "mole" under your garden to reach the meter position. That helps to keep the cost down.

I suppose the place only has electricity,rather than mains gas have you thought of LPG,it is worth looking at because unless you have gas running past your property the cost can be high to get it laid on,you will not get away without paying at least £1500 it could be as much a £5000,so if it is high look at the LPG cost,you rent the tank and it is filled by a truck
