Emily was born in Stainforth, Yorkshire.@ 1869.
in 1891 they had 3 children Ernest Edith and Ethe; aged 5, 3, and 1 but emily's age puts her birth 1866 Stainforth.
In 1881 John William aged 22 was enumerated oh the barge Agile the Mate.
In 1871 he was living with his parents James and Susannak and 6 siblings in mexborough, his dad was a waterman (same as a bargeman) aged 49 born mexboro, mother aged 47 born Thorne
1861 a couple of older children there and James is a coal merchant not a waterman.
and they are in Sheffield , John William is the youngest aged 2.
1851 is curious, Susannah is on her own with the oldest 3 children at home.
where is James?
The only james beavers I can find of the right age and born mexborough is living in burslem staffs with a wife and 3 children. Can't see any other likely one.
In 1841 James is living in mexborough with his parents Joseph aged 44 and sarah aged 52. plus brother Richard aged 14.
I think that is correct.

On the 1871 census Emily (Emila) is living on the vessel Exchange moored at Doncaster with her father William Moxon the captain and his wife Elizabeth and Emily's three younger siblings. Emily is again recorded as born Stainforth as is her father. Her siblings were all baptised at hatfiels and so was her father William.

Thanks for your wonderful knowledgeable answer,it's my grandad's forefathers so to speak I'm interested in,for instance did John William have any siblings etc and what were their names, the same with Emily.I have pictures of Emily but none of John Wlliam and none of my immediate family have one my father remembered him and thought he had gone blind,it's information like that no matter how small I would love to have.
Ok thanks for clearing that up, these are John Williams parents siblings and nephew and niece in 1871:
Name Age
Jame Beevers 49
Susannah Beevers 47
Frederick Beevers 23
Joseph Beevers 19
Benjamin Beevers 16
Susannah Beevers 15
John Wm Beevers 13
Heneritta Pricivas 6
Walter Pricivas 4
This is the family in 1861:
Household Members:
Name Age
James Beevers 38
Susanna Beevers 36
Harriett Beevers 14
Frederick Beevers 12
Jabez Beevers 11
James Bingley Beevers 8
Benjamin Beevers 6
Susanna Sophia Beevers 4
John William 2
In 1851 Susannah is alone with the older children in mexborough:
Name Age
Susanna Beevers 27
Harriet Beevers 4
Frederick Beevers 3
Jabey Beevers 1
Ann Conwell 11
But in the same place Susanna;a in laws are living, James's parents Joseph and Esther, and James's brothers and sisters:
:
Name Age
Joseph Beevers 45
Esther Beevers 47
Mary Beevers 21
Thomas Beevers 20
Alice Beevers 18
Moses Beevers 9
Eliza Beevers 7
Sarah Beevers 3
Mary Squires 80
Joseph Squires 41
Mary Squires is Esther's mother, so James's grandmother, but James is not there.
James Beevers was baptised at Mexborough 25 Dec 1822 son of Josepk and Sarah.
I assume that Susannah was Susannah Bingley but need to confirm.
Places of birth and residence on each census as in my previous reply,
Name Age

Joseph Beevers 19
Benjamin Beevers 16

Apparently Susannah was Susannah Guest, the family tree is already on ancestry.co.uk
Only the beever line back to Joseph, James's daughter Susannah Sophia Beevers married a Thomas Barratt and the ancestry member has included her and her parents in his tree.
There are 2 others also having a link to James Beevers but none of them have found him on the 1851 and so I assume he is on a vessel somewhere.

Well,if it's purely an interest that you have then a big thankyou!I live in Stoke on Trent and I'm disabled so would find it hard to get up to S.Yorkshire,I was in contact with a Peter Beevers in London who is a distant relative, his great grandfather and mine being brothers but he was a bit posher because he said his had two boats!I'm going to ring my cousin in Cheshire to give him your info as his grandson aged 10 is doing a family tree.
Thanks Caroline, sorry for any delay but I'm not on this site very often,I am trying to do a family tree but up to yet I've not found any reference to Sapford's,what can you tell me?I am intrigued by the Beevers,I have pictures of most of the children,ie my grandfather and siblings but don't have one of John William, all I know is he went blind in later life,my late father remembered him but he was an old man then.My personal email address is [email protected]
