A Humane Mousetrap?

Set the traps last night and as I left the room one was triggered. It had caught either a giant mouse or a young rat just across the snout. It wriggled about for a while before it suffocated. Anybody recommend a humane trap?

if you live in the country that may be feasible, live in a built up city, with little or no space between you and the neighbours, like measles once they have them, so do you. proof because the whole row of homes got them..
