OK! Its just kissing, Who cares if its a guy and a girl, 2 girls, or 2 lads... It doesnt really matter... If it had been anything sexual... you could complain.. but it is just kissing... ACTUALLY its not even kissing... It is 2006, either stay in your little world, or come into reality!
PS: I am a 17 year old straight lad and I find it anoying that some of you people are so narrow minded...
PPS: Well done to all the cool people who dont give two hoots haha
Perhaps if you feel so strongly you could explain the good old British concept of humour to your kids in the context of this advert, rather than go on a minor moral crusade to protect them from this filth?
For those unfamiliar with the ad, its two blokes pretending to kiss on the sofa, their girlfriends return from the kitchen to "catch" them and go crazy, the guys are then seen celebrating that they are now brutally & efficiently single, so they can hope to pull one of the 'high st honey' types in this month's Maxim. I thought it was funny, but hardly hilarious (I'm 33, straight male)
Its hardly offensive, and I would like to think that any half-switched-on kid would see the funny side too - have you asked your kids what they think of it?
BTW - the ASA don't decide what goes out when, before it goes out - that is the collective responsibility of the advertisers, their ad agency, and the TV bookers - all hugely experienced people who would have given the subject nature due consideration as to its suitability. If you don't like its pre-watershed timing, complain to the ASA - their website tells you all you need to know. Tenner says they do nothing, as in modern Britain it is hardly shocking TV.
Failing that - do you know where your TV's 'OFF' button is?
NORMANTHEDOG (Wife)- I feel so sorry for you! It seems that you really do not know how to debate. Insulting Satin 7, and her draging kids up.... I some how think that its more the other way around. You are sheltering your children from what is in the Big Bad World.
My two younger brothers know that I am gay, and have done since they were 6 & 4 (they also know I have HIV) They have also seen me in bed with my partner when they stayed with me. They have also, heaven forbit seen me kiss my partner!
I also think its funny that you have not mentioned the watch advert when you see two men really kiss!
