Or should that be incorrectness? Do you think that the country is becoming more racist or more tollerant?

From what I have seen, heard & experienced it seems that PC is turning previously non-racist folk towards something that could be classed as racism ~ but only classed as racism because of PC....does that make any sense?

I think the country is becoming more ractist, but not because of any PC issues.

It is becoming racist because every day we read in the papers of black and Asian (and some Romanion and Albanian) people commiting crimes.

Shooting policemen, drug smuggling, people smuggling, credit card crime, honour killings, suicide bombers, the list goes on.

(and before someone says "white people commit crimes to" well yes they do, but the number of crimes far outweigh the number of immigrants, and some of the type of crimes are new to the UK as well such as people smuggling and honour killings.

If you do not believe me search in Google or on the BBC web site for "Asylum seeker jailed" or "illegal immigrant jailed" and see what I mean.

I think many people are frightened of losing their traditional sense of identity, but I would argue the British are a tolerant people, generally.

Sadly, we do have an irresponsible press that encourage conflict between the various groups within our society because it sells papers and this encourages people to worry unnecessarily.

You rarely see headlines that describe hooligans as 'White Thugs', sex offenders as ' White Paedophiles', or financial criminals as, 'Middle Class White Tax Evader', but they are only too willing to print 'Albanian Sex Smugglers' or 'Black on Black Gun Crime'.

Having lived in France and the USA, I think the British can be proud of their ability to mix freely with other cultures without becoming overly paranoid about their place in the world.

Its very simple really, Political Correctness has only been around in its creeping ugly form, sincs this goverment got in, When you look at its beginnings, and how its progressed, its just one tool that our reverand leader is using to become Dictator,
I cant believe I went to a meeting and a 'black' person said that he was a 'person with colour' !! shouldn't he have been proud of who and what he is? I certainly am... no matter what I am!
I am a person with colour too ~ I am not white..more of a creamy pinky colour. If it is really hot in the summer I go all sorts of colours, ranging from bright pink to a more subtle beige..... ;o)
From my own personal experiences as a young black woman thats travelled all over the uk, i think the uk is getting worse. it seems that racist comments are the first words that jump put of people mouths nowadays.
I have issues with the use of the word 'tolerant'.
I don't consider someone's ethnicity, colour etc as offensive - and therefore something to be 'tolerated'.

Bad behaviour - by anybody regardless of their background - that is intolerable.

It speaks volumes about a person who says 'I'm tolerant' -
those are the people I don't tolerate.
