You KNOW what I'm going to say don't you?

In the post this morning was the FINAL NOTICE! Duly telphoned the relevant council person straight away, and was told they had gone home!!! I'll phone again in the morning and see what they have to say, and I'll ask for confirmation in writing that they have amended their records.

No surprise really is it horseshoes?

Always go for written confirmation with things like this, I'd also follow up with a written letter myself and send it registered delivery.

No I shouldn't be surprised should I? I certainly will do just that. Grrrr it just makes me SO cross. Isn't it awful that we EXPECT such inefficiency?
I had an invoice the other day for something I knew I'd paid for - when I rang them, they said they had a new computer system and it was throwing out all sorts of random invoices. Grrrr.
It is, we're resigned to it now. What annoys me the most is the efforts people have to go to to get something sorted out, when it was never their problem in the first place.

Good luck and keep your eye out for the debt recovery letter that will drop through the letterbox in a couple of weeks :)

What would happen if I phoned and wrote, but they still didn't sort it out? What would happen if I were just to let them get on with taking us to court or whatever they do, and then just tell them the whole story in court so that they would look like complete fools. I'd be up for doing that, but I'd also be a bit frightened of being charged with wasting the courts time and being fined.
I'd say you'd have to keep communicating before court but I doubt it'd get that far, when you ring tomorrow insist on speaking to a senior member of staff as talking to a clerk didn't work and tell them you'll be following up with a letter copying in the Director of Finance.
