Cheques....

How long before they become a thing of the past? I use about 2 a year, no supermarkets take them, I imagine not many shops do now either.

My landlord only accepts my rent vis cheque.

I do many charity quizzes by post and often send payment/donation by cheque.

They'll continue as long as people don't have card machines or access to internet banking. The Dandie Dinmont Club, The Irish Wolfhound Club ,my gardener, my decorators, and other minor contractors, only accept cheques. All right, the gardener would take cash, but that's because he's here on site at the time and I'm usually here too, not miles away.

I have access to internet banking, but I still prefer my chequebook.

I probably write between 10 & 12 cheques a month. Many small businesses, especially in rural areas, rely on them.

you mean they rely on having to take all those cheques to the bank and paying at least a pound each to pay them in, I see!

It`ll be quite a while yet before cheques disappear. There are plenty of postal savings accounts about. I have a postal ISA and I found that I could also make deposits via my online banking and the ISA company actively tried to discourage me, saying that they preferred cheques.
