..... just for the record, it had broken down .... it wasn't being towed away or anything !!
Still, it made me chuckle and the driver said he'd never picked one up before and he was having a good laugh about it too ......

Funny you should say that Dave, 'cos I asked the driver "why use such a big truck"? Apparently, this was the smallest truck that they have ........

I must admit it does look funny, but the serious side to this is what would a person do if it breaks down, gets a puncture etc. My stepfather can't walk more than a few steps, and had a terrible problem when his mobility scooter stopped working due to a fault whilst he was about half way home. f

I fully agree that there is a need for a recovery to be available when necessary, it's just a slight case of overkill though, when they turn up in a huge recovery truck.
Something slightly less assuming like a small trailer would have been more appropriate, but I'm not complaining 'cos it gave us all a good laugh :)

Quite often I see the term "mobility scooter" mentioned on this site. Is that one? I assumed it was a word for a motorized wheelchair That thing looks like a gold fish bowl with wheels!

It is a mobility scooter. Most of them are open and have no covers - this one has a substantial rain cover over it ........
