Perhaps others used the phrase, but it suggests to me that your Mum found you stubborn or single-minded when you were misbehaving, similar to the phrase ‘holier than thou!’, or someone who can do no wrong!
Arguably she could have been using the phrase in a sarcastic manner and she didn’t believe the phrase she used to be a true statement!
