Does anyone kknowabout the first direct current account that's advertised on the money saving expert website? I want to know if I can open an account without £1000 a month in like it says.

My understanding is that the account cost £10 a month to use but that gets waived if you
1) pay £1000 a month
2) or keep £1000 balance each month
3) Have another first direct product open I.e savings account

If you don't fall into any of those 3 criteria then you can still open the account but it costs you £10 per month.

All I'm interested in is the £250 free overdraft but I won't be paying £1000 in per month.

I haven't seen the advert but if that's what it says, you can pay the £10 a month if you don't meet the £1000 income criterion.
I am afraid if you do not meet the criteria you will automatically charged the monthly fee. I believe it would be free for the first 6 months.
If you open a savings account and deposit a few quid in there it will act as a qualifying product and the fee will be waived if you don't meet the other criteria.
