I've picked up some of these glasses at a charity shop. What type of glass is it please? its not opaline I know that much, it has rainbow effect in the glass in the light, but very thin glass could even be crystal. could it be Vaseline?
woofgang I don't know how old they are, bought three of them for £2 at the local charity shop , I like them but might try and sell them on Ebay and wanted to know what the glass was. The shape of them looks like '20's or '50's, they are very fine and quite small, smaller than more modern wine glasses.
Khandro -that's great! thanks for the link -iridescent was the word I was looking for -so perhaps they are Vintage. Will do some more research. Cheers! x
woofgang sometimes the design gives it away, sometimes people just use the Tag word Vintage or Retro. From the look of that bowl I would say its around 30-40 years old -that's old to some people lol!
A handy tip for recognising Victorian glasses is the foot is larger than the rim. Gently put two matching glasses together and if the feet touch before the rim they are almost certainly Victorian.
This isn't valid in your case, though they well be 1920-30's.
Woofgang -of course! I went to a Vintage sale yesterday and some of the stuff they were selling I still have and use on a daily basis. I refuse to accept that stuff made in the '80's is 'retro' lol!
