But there seems to be a mixture in each class -
Thank you!!!

Been puzzling over that one for weeks myself!
So some get different colour jumpers for being on the JLT and being prefects, etc?
I hadn't really noticed although the prefects do wear red.
Perhaps it was a free-for-all for the transition period between Thornhill acquiring Academy status (Dec 2012) and the introduction of the new grey uniform (Sep 2013).
Could it be because they were changing the uniform - http://www.thornhillcommunityacademy.co.uk/force_download.cfm?id=876
Colour Blindness is very prevalent up north ...
^^OI!^^
Some schools have a house system linked to pastoral care. The colour of jumper or tie enables rewards, points and demerits to go to the correct house. Teachers also get a quick clue as to which member of staff to go to to discuss behaviour issues.
This member of staff can then say 'oh they only have a problem with you, it must be how you teach....' but that's irrespective of house, it's down to whether their your chum.
I think the reason is probably the transitional arrangements as they move to new uniforms. The programme was recorded quite some time ago.
Prefects wear green, don't know about maroon though
