We are due to fly next Friday with Monarch to Gibraltar. My question is, instead of the one carry-on bag can I carry a gift that doesn't fit into my case? I wouldn't take any other carry-on bag, just this gift. Many thanks in advance.
Or perhaps can advise me where to enquire.

yes, though it shouldn't be bigger than the specified dimensions. I'd put it in some sort of bag anyway, just for protection

Thank you jno, but I fear it will be too big, at 60cm x 60cm. I don't know what to do now, but thanks.
That will be too big for Monarch cabin luggage, can you fit it in your hold luggage, and take a maximum size cabin case of clothes?
that's awkward, it's not really going to fit on your lap either. You could give Monarch a call and ask, but it might be easier to put in the post?

Thanks for your help everyone, but I think I shall pay for one extra bag in the hold. A bit cheaper than sending it TNT or FEDEX many thanks.
Isn't this flying a faff sometimes? On a recent flight I sat next to a woman carrying a large hat for a wedding she was going to.
Because she was in an emergency exit row and there were no more seats she was told it would have to go in the overhead compartment...sure to be squashed. She was quite distressed til I asked the steward if she was allowed to wear it instead. That was okay is seemed so the woman traveled in her track suit and on her head a large, gorgeous, feathery wedding hat.....☺
Good luck with yours, Lid.
Check what what weight hand luggage you are allowed. Monarch have different allowances for Scheduled and Charter flights.
