My 17 year old son stupidly signed up for a 18 month contract for another person because they didn't have a bank account. They had an agreement that she would pay him the 20 per month for the contract. We saw it coming but she defaulted on the payments so he has been making them out of his own money. He managed to get the mobile phone back (that he doesn't need or want). My question is: is there a loop hole to get him out of the 18 month contract as it was applied for on the internet with no checks made regarding his date of birth / eligibility for credit?
Could you argue with the phone company that it was irresponsible lending/irresponsible giving of credit facilities. How can companies let someone lie about their age and give them credit without carrying out any checks
