Can anyone think of some really effective and emotional songs? I like to use them in my drama pieces at school and am always on the look out for more. Stuff I have used in the past includes stuff like 'Hush, Hush, Hush' by Paula Cole and also songs by Sarah McLachlan. Usually I like music that isn't necesarily very famous or well heard. Would really appreciate peoples ideas.

To be loved - westlife

A friend of mine used this in a drama play for school and it made everyone cry as the play was so sad and the music brought out the emotion!

why thank you Fakeplastic!  i've got more too, give Matthew Jay's album 'Draw' a listen.  Very heartfelt, and even more so after his tragic suicide.
Thanks Sprogglin, I'll certainly do that!  I must admit to really liking miserable music!!
When I did gcse drama, one of the performance groups used songs by the eels called 'beautiful freak' and 'not ready yet' which were v. effective.
Some more songs are 'pictures of you' by the cure, 'sweeter than anything' by pj harvey, 'lemon' by katy rose, 'stumbliene' by the smashing pumpkins, 'all is full of love' by bjork, 'bang bang' by nancy sinatra, stuff by the smiths/morrissey, radiohead, alanis morisette and air have too many songs to list...

this song is amazing!
