Answewphone On A Cordless Extension

Can anyone advise if it is possible to connect an answerphone to the extension end of a cordless phone. I would appreciate any feedbacks or ideas.

I don't quite understand what you mean - I have an answerphone facility on the main base station of our cordless phone?

Yes, I appreciate that you can have an answerphone on the main base station of a cordless phone. - But I want one on the other end, ie. the extension end. Is this possible??

Still not making sense. I have a phone extension upstairs. The base and answerphone are downstairs. The upstairs phone displays if a message is left and I can access from that. Any modern phone should do this.
