I am desperately trying to send text messages and everytime I press 'send' I get a message on screen saying emergency calls only; how can I alter this please, I am useless with phone settings etc. but hope someone can teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks J.

Hello, yes I put £10 on it 2 days ago and haven't made a call , it did send 2 messages then it stopped and keeps coming up "Error" emergency call only

the 2 messages it sent could have been the last of the previous amount perhaps?

I get this message when in an area with no signal, move to another position or outside

Actually sounds like it is out of range of its home network - or at least thinks it is.

Try turning it right off (take out the battery if necessary) for a couple of minutes & then switch back on & see if it connects to the correct network.

No it was not the last of previous amount because I had 8d only on it , not enough for one message, I also had confirmation that the £10 had been put into the phone, also I had a screen message saying Location 6 - whatever that means?

Try taking the sim card out and wiping the contacts to ensure they are clean.

I do think you are in a 'dead spot' i.e. no signal so try moving around

PHEW!! I tried it out in the garden, no good..... finally got the back off the phone and the battery out (never done that before) Gave it a good shaking etc and put battery back in and lo and behold we have lift off!!!!!!! many thanks for all the suggestions and help given. I think I need a lot of lessons, or else I will drown the damn phone. Thanks again J.

Have the same problem here or at least I did have earlier but it has started working now.
Hope yours is back on too.
