Does anyone know if cotoneaster berries are harmful if eaten by puppies?

They can give the dog an upset stomach and if eaten in quantity by a small pup might even kill it. If your dog has eaten them then get advice from your vet. Otherwise don't let the pup at them. Puppies.like toddlers, will eat just about anything, you have to be really vigilant till they have grown up a bit.

Thankyou so much for answering - went onto the site as advised - will have to sweep them up and watch the pup when he is out - they come from next door's bush actually.

Generally, be careful about hw you interpret "facts" found on the net. That Blurtit article could have been written by anybody (like on here really) and there is no proof or objective information either to support or refute it.

indeed and all those links say something slightly different, none of them are backed up with any kind of scientific information, some of them are totally over the top in what they list as dangerous ("keep your dogs well away from clematis") There are many things that dogs will eat that will give them a stomach upset if they eat it. Now I am not saying that dogs should eat these things, or we shouldn't be very vigilant with a puppy, but that does not mean that these things are poisonous!

My Great Dane will pull me off my feet to get to these... wonder what it is that makes them so attractive to dogs?
