What do you think of Halloween? I love the kids coming round and espscially if they do something, joke, sing, without even been asked.A lot of kids just stick their hands out, grab what they can and do nothing! Must say, the majority of the kids here are very good at doing something! What are they like with you?

Gness, my house has the cobwebs anyway, I don't need a Hallowe'en excuse!
I go with my sister and the younger children. Imo, if they're old enough to go on their own, they shouldn't be doing it (gness, excepted, obviously). We don't take any eggs or anything and just go locally where people obviously have a pumpkin or decorations out. People seem very good around here, they all have tins of sweets ready and make a fuss of the costumes.
I always was against it in principle, but i was ill one year and their dad took them. After that, they used to get really excited about it:-\
Boxy...I looked and thought....Hmmm...you can clean, Gness..or add to the cobwebs and sprinkle some talc over the dust....Guess which?...☻
Great idea, gness! :-)
Missus always has a box of sweets ready for the trick or treaters, it's always just the young ones who knock with their parents.

All this talk about vandalism and splattered eggs says more about the area you live in than the actual event
I don't like it, such a nuisance with the kids knocking on the door for ages, then they all stand there watching you to panic to find something to give them, whatever you can lay your hands on. It used to be just trick or treat for bonfire night but now they let their little darlings out to nag you earlier than that.
I`m not so sure about that. I remember when there was a article in the local paper about Ronan Keating`s front door being splattered by eggs on Trick or Treat night. He chased the kids down the road and persuaded them to come back and clean up the mess. He was living in Thames Ditton at the time - hardly a dump. There are mischevious kids everywhere.
Half of my text went missing (again). That was in relation to Elvis` post
Trick or treating is an American thing

Nope - as mentioned above, it's Scottish.
"It's Scottish"

The women are in costume all year round!

I'll get me coat
Guising is Scottish, nothing evil about that - trick or treat, with the treat being spiteful vandalism, surely came from the States.
I don't think Americans go in for vandalism, I suspect that's a recent loca addition.
I'm not a fan of Halloween, and I never answer the door.
No trick or treaters come my way, maybe they do..I wouldn't notice I'm never at home, I lock up the house and go out to a relative miles out the country. we set off fireworks and have a few drinks and some food
