Christmas Shopping Far Too Early

These are some people I know started in September getting all excited and making shopping lists and buying presents. I consider it too early even now to think about it. What is it with these people, is their life so dull and boring they have to focus on Christmas every year so early on to find some excitement? Personally I can't stand it, the only good thing about it is a week off work. As for new year, everyone joining hands and dancing and hugging just because it's midnight on some insignificant day. I find it all nauseating. Give me summer any day.

I started last month, like to get it done and wrapped before December, then I can relax and look forward to it all. No stress, no waiting to be served and everything in stock
. Used to work in Argos and kept being shouted at by customers telling me I had ruined their child's Christmas because item not in stock on Christmas Eve. I won't say what I would like to reply. Ho oh ho.

Talking about being prepared, can anyone tell me please when i should be posting my christmas cards, surface mail, to Australia please? Im sure its some time in November but i dont know when.

I am starting to think about it. Lots of people to buy for, so i try to spread the cost out a bit. Also, if you order online, it's more likely to be in stock and delivery is cheaper if you're not in a rush. I like it all done and wrapped at least a couple of weeks before Christmas.

I find it a bit disturbing at the moment. We have Halloween items, fireworks for November 5th and Christmas gifts and decorations. It's too commercial now.

dave50 some people like myself have to budget and don't want a huge bill in January for presents. If you pickup bits and bobs from September onwards then you get things cheaper than if you buy last minute and can actually enjoy the festive break.

I pick up gifts for people throughout the year as and when I see something appropriate.

As others have said many people want to spread the cost of Christmas, each to their own as far as I'm concerned.

sending things to Australia by December 5 sounds ridiculous. I got a package the other day from Australia four days after it was posted. I suspect the royal mail just wants to get all that foreign nonsense out of the way so they can concentrate on proper British post.

We tend to buy throughout the year, so less to get when it gets nearer....if, say, a game on PS3/XBOX360 comes out, or perhaps a Blu Ray movie, we buy it and put it away.........another one done and dusted and less to get.
We havent got much more to get tbh.....BUT, and cheer up, Big Dave, if you can, mate......I will admit writing Christmas cards is a big fat bore and is a chore I really do hate....I dont send them out computerised or laptop written, as I write them with a pen, as its more personal I feel, but we have sooooooo many family and friends to write out for, and is the most boring job I do all year.
I will start very soon now to get them all done, but will need a few hours to do them, as usual. I have a glass of wine, some nibbles - usually twiglets and some pretty cool music on to ease the boredom.
