I do not want windows messenger on my computer. I have removed the program from the start up list but msmsgs.exe is still running in task manager. I go - end process but it just keeps running. Someone here said that you need msmsgs.exe for emails is this true? - if not, how can I stop it from running? Thank You.

Are you running Norton antivirus? I believe this will start the windows messenging service automatically.

Anyway, here's how I prevented it from running:

Accessories/Services
Locate Messenger in the list
Right-click it and choose properties
In the Startup Type dropdown, select "Disabled"
Click apply
If it is already started, click Stop
Click OK
