The radius of your cylinder is 43/pi/2 = 6.85 ins.

The area of its base is 6.85 x 6.85 x pi = 147.4 sq.ins.

Its volume is 147.4 x 12 = 1769 cu. ins.

There are 1728 cu. ins in a cu. ft.

Your cylinder is therefore 1769/1728 = 1.024 cubic feet.

Since the length is one foot perzactly, the volume (in cubic feet) is equal to the cross sectional area (pi r^2) of the cylinder . . . in feet.

cross sectional area = circumference^2 / 4pi

they're/4th . . .

(circumference in inches * 0.0235079)^2 (* length in ft) = volume in ft^3
