What is the world coming to when a funeral becomes a photo opportunity! Has anyone encountered this at a funeral, memorial service or wake they have been to? Is it just an American fad?

When I was much younger and living in Manchester all neighbours closed curtains on the morning of a funeral, until after the funeral was over. Someone always collected for flowers from friends and neighbours. There was a much closer community sprit then, sadly missed.
The Welsh side of my family never allowed females at funerals as late as 20 years ago.
as a child I lived Barking, Essex but this also used to happen in South Wales when I stayed with my grandma. It was the norm.
If I am walking in any street and a funeral procession goes by, I always stand still with my head slightly bowed until it passes, even though I don't know whose funeral it could be, something taught to me as good manners from a child.
